Why me? With the culture of health care moving towards specialties, what sets me apart is a diverse clinical experience yielding the ability to treat a wide range of physical problems. I'll take the time to get to know you and your story to develop a program personal to you, and build a relationship that involves matching your efforts and investing in your future. I will teach you how to care for your body and take  control of your physical health so that you will ultimately require less chronic care.

Patient populations that I work with:

Post-surgical

*any type of surgery

(cardiac, ortho, neuro, general etc.)

You recently had a surgery and are not able to take care of yourself, or do the things you need to do everyday.

You have pain, swelling, difficulty moving your limbs, spine or entire body in general.

You want to learn how to regain your strength and ability to function while your surgical site heals.

Pulmonary

*Post-Covid 19 or other lung conditions

You became ill with the Novel Coronavirus or had a lung infection, such as pneumonia, and have not been the same ever since.

You have difficulty breathing, your oxygen levels require monitoring, your airways produce mucus that you have trouble clearing, or you become easily fatigued with basic daily tasks.

You want to learn how to breathe better, move more efficiently, increase endurance for prolonged activities and manage your chronic respiratory symptoms.

*solid tumor or liquid cancers

*inquire about PT with home hospice services

You have a cancer diagnosis that required recent chemotherapy, radiation or bone marrow transplant, and now you are deconditioned.

Day-to-day tasks that used to be automatic now require tremendous effort, and you become exhausted with routine activities.

You want to learn how to conserve energy throughout the day, and recover strength and endurance to improve your quality of life.

Oncologic

Orthopedic

*upper and lower extremities

You have complaints of pain in your shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle or foot related to advancing arthritis, a sports related injury, or after a fall, car accident or other trauma.

You have trouble reaching for objects or pain when putting weight through your leg.

You want to learn how to restore mobility and strength in your limbs to avoid surgery and recover as much use of your extremities as possible.

Neurological

*acute conditions

You had a recent neurological event within the past 3-6 months such as a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or a new progressive diagnosis such as Parkinson's Disease.

Your body is not functioning the way you are used to and now seems to have a mind of its own. Your balance and coordination are affected and you are afraid of falling.

You want to learn how to move your new body to minimize fall risks and maximize safety techniques.

Spine

*neck or back pain, with or without

symptoms traveling into extremities

You had a sudden onset of neck or back pain after a specific incident, or you had discomfort that gradually worsened over time for no apparent reason.

You have localized aches or sharp shooting pains into your arms or legs that limit your ability to do daily chores, work out or perform the demands of your job.

You want to learn about optimal posture and body mechanics to decrease stress on your spine while you do everyday activities.

Pediatrics

Ages 3-18

Adults

Ages 18+

Geriatrics

Older adults

Treatments that I offer:

Therapeutic exercise - without resistance to increase active movement and/or against resistance to increase strength - to carry over into functional tasks.

Therapeutic activity - sequencing of functional tasks such as transferring in/out of the bath tub or car - there is no better way to improve an activity than to repeat the activity itself.

Neuromuscular re-education - correct posture in static positions or during dynamic tasks, train the whole body to maintain or recover balance, or retrain poor movement strategies with optimal mechanics.

Gait training - learn how to use assistive devices (if needed) with ideal sequencing of limbs while walking (or running) and gain confidence on uneven surfaces or stairs, footwear will be assessed.

Manual therapy - hands-on mobilization of soft tissues (muscle, fascia) and joints to restore normal motion, may include a variation of deep tissue, myofascial release or cupping therapy to a focused problematic area.

*Treatment plans may include recommended use of heat/cold therapy, if applicable. Ultrasound and electrical stimulation will not be provided - while you may have experienced some temporary relief from these modalities in the past, science does not support that they yield long-term relief or gains in function.

What is cupping therapy? Small cups applied to the skin create suction, lifting and separating tissues beneath the skin. The goal is to release soft tissue (muscle, fascia) restrictions and restore optimal circulation of blood and lymph. Cups may be soft silicone or hard plastic, and suction may be created manually or with a vacuum pump.

Static cupping techniques (cups left in one place for a prolonged time) will leave red circular marks on your skin that can last for a few hours or a few days. Darker discoloration signifies more tissue restrictions and stagnation of fluids in that area. The marks may look similar to bruising, but are not the result of mechanical injury. Cupping over the same location is not recommended until the discoloration goes away indicating intact circulation and reabsorption, however, cupping may be performed over other areas if indicated. With consistent treatment over time, areas that initially produced dark red circles will eventually show lighter marks indicating successful response of the tissues to the treatment.

Dynamic cupping techniques involve creating suction with the cups and then gliding the cups over the skin. This technique is not likely to leave circles on the skin after treatment; it may leave some general purple, red or pink discoloration. As with static cupping, the more impaired the soft tissues and stagnant the flow of fluids in the area, the more discoloration you will see, and as the tissue heals with consistent application, the marks will become lighter and last for less time.

With the cupping techniques I utilize, a lubricant, such as an over-the-counter cream/lotion, will be used to enhance the contact of the cups with the skin and gliding of the cups over the skin. You will likely experience pain during the cupping process, but many people report remarkable improvement of movement and relief of symptoms after it is completed (some immediately, some after a few hours or days).

Risks include pain during the procedure of cupping, persistent or long-lasting discoloration of the skin or irritation of dermatological conditions such as eczema. You may opt to discontinue cupping treatment at any time. It is considered an alternative form of medicine that is not well researched, but is growing in popularity as an effective treatment reported by patients and observed by therapists.

Why private pay? Service you get for "free" or with a nominal co-pay might make

sense financially, but it's often based on a blanket treatment plan for every patient that

depends on a band-aid approach and functions like a factory. Even if you pay a premium,

you might still get a bill for out of pocket expenses or be denied care by insurance companies that attempt to override judgement of the therapist.

With me, you're guaranteed one-on-one time in the comfort of your own home with a

thorough evaluation and an individualized plan of care. With more quality time together

to uncover and address the root cause of your physical problem(s), you'll see faster

recovery and longer-lasting results. Without the distraction and frustration of filling

out authorization forms, or the imminent denial that interrupts your rhythm and flow

during rehabilitation, we can focus on what really matters.
